The role of LSI in electronic equipment has become more and more important
as  LSI  technology advances.  However, it has been pointed out that there
is a gap between the advancing technology of LSI manufacturing and  design
productivity.   The   increasing   functionality  and  complexity  of  LSI
exemplified  by  system-on-silicon is a challenge to the increasing design
complexity.  Under these circumstances, the EDA Technical Committee of the
Electronic Industries Association of Japan (EIAJ) formed  the  EDA  Vision
Working  Group  with  the intention to promote the following objectives in
Japan and abroad:
(1)To  understand and define LSI design technology requirement in the year
   2002.
(2)To set the direction for the industry as well as standardization groups
   in order to meet these requirements.
